Charlotte Tilbury, Lead Makeup Artist at the Barbie show at Fall 2009 Fashion Week, used NYX Cosmetics Fabulous Lashes to "give the perfect finish to that glamorous doll effect". I've always wanted to try false eyelashes, but was too intimated. I recently put my fears to the test and jumped in.
I tried the NYX Fabulous Lashes in EL 108, which is a natural-looking lash. I read the instructions on the back of the box first, so that I had a basic understanding of the process. I removed an eyelash from the backing and held it up to my eye. It was a little too long, so I took a manicure scissors and trimmed a few hairs, remeasured and was happy with the length.
Next, I removed the tube of glue which was included, opened it up and used a pin to spread a thin line across the top edge of the lash. Using my fingers, I positioned the lash as close as possible to my natural lashline, then pressed down from the outer to the inner corner of my eye. It took a couple of attempts to get it exactly right. Then I followed exactly the same procedure on the other eye.
Once the Fabulous Lashes were in place, I curled them, then added a generous coat of mascara. I rechecked the finished look and was really pleased! The package states these lashes are re-usable up to 10 times. At $5 a package, that's a pretty good value.
