NARS has launched two new foundations to the line, Sheer Glow and Sheer Matte. Both foundation formulas contain NARS exclusive Complexion Brightening Formula, which helps to minimize discoloration and hide skin imperfections. The Complexion Brightening Formula includes a blend of antioxidant Vitamin C, amino acids and peptides. Sheer Glow and Sheer Matte foundations come in 20 shades to suit all skin tones.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation: I've been using the Sheer Glow Foundation in Santa Fe, which is a medium tone. It glides onto your skin for a natural, dewy finish. Sheer Glow is intended for those with normal to dry skin. In terms of coverage, I would consider this to be a light-to-medium coverage, buildable with additional application. If you do have sun spots or other area of discoloration, you would probably want to go over those areas for additional coverage. This foundation has a wonderful "slip" or feel to it and I found that it covered well, even without using a primer. I'm super picky about foundations and I would say this is equally as good as two of my favorite liquid foundations--Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and the Kanebo Fluid Finish. $42
NARS Sheer Matte Foundation: I tried Sheer Matte Foundation in the Deauville shade, which is a light shade. Sheer Matte foundation is for those with normal to oily skin. I liken the NARS Sheer Matte Foundation to a matte lipstick--it's a more sophisticated look. The coverage is still light to medium, allowing skin to show through, but the finish is matte; flat. Sheer Matte does contain mattifying agents to help control shine, while at the same time brightening your complexion. I did find that after a long, hot, day, I was still needing to use a blotting paper, but in high heat and humidity, that's to be expected. I really liked the Matte finish that this foundation provides. $42
