Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty has been one of encouragement, acceptance and empowerment for women of all ages. Now, Dove has partnered with the upcoming movie, "The Women". "The Women" is a film made by women, for women, that depicts the powerful impact of female friendships.
Dove has produced a short documentary titled The Women Behind "The Women" . In it, a 16-year old student journalist from Red Wing, Minnesota visits the set of "The Women" and interviews the stars of the movie--Annette Bening, Deborah Messing, Meg Ryan and Jada Pinkett Smith on real beauty versus the manufactured beauty of Hollywood.
A fun surprise was seeing Julie Hewett in the documentary! She is the Makeup Department Head on "The Women" movie and is fond of saying "It's not easy being a natural beauty--it takes all day!". The Women Behind "The Women" is a powerful documentary and I really enjoyed watching it. You can find The Women Behind "The Women" documentary here.
After looking at The Women Behind "The Women", I definitely plan to see the movie. And I'll be calling a bunch of my girlfriends to make it a night out. Why not celebrate our real beauty together? "The Women" opens in theatres on September 12, 2008. Don't miss it!
